June 25, 2007 Comments Off on Hilton, Paris
Last week, as mentioned in previous posts, I spent three days learning all the new features of Oracle Database 11g. The event took place on the 10th floor of the Hilton in Paris, with a view of the Eiffel tower, although we were so close you couldn’t see the whole thing.
I also mentioned the exuberant price (625€), so I slept in the Marriot. There aren’t many options when working for an American company with rigid travel arrangements. We have a list of hotels we can choose from. It happens very often that American companies choose hotels with a large presence in the US for their “preferred hotel” list. According to the better half who also works in such American corporation, but then much higher level, this is mostly for the “subjective feeling” of safety . Mercure/Accor aren’t in there (unknown/unsafe), so that’s why we ended up in these extremely expensive hotels in Paris.
