Illegal vs. illegal p2p

Copysense Appliance (and apparently some other software) makes it possible to differentiate between legal and illegal p2p exchanges. Due to a court ruling, Belgian internet providers will have to monitor and block illegal p2p downloads. Some of the Belgian providers will have to chose things like Copysense Appliance in order to block this traffic. I’m wondering how this actually works! Especially with the possibility of encryption technologies, it will become extremely difficult to monitor all this. I bet that this won’t help to lower the price of broadband in Belgium (one of the most expensive…), especially because Belgium has the most dense cabling and telephone (4 xDSL) network in the world (especially the cabling). We’ll all be paying for this software through our bills.
