An ldap addressbook on your mac!

As you might know, Max OS X comes equipped with a non-configured openldap implementation.
Everything they say about configuring is true… but keep in mind that the version compiled for Mac was compiled without support for clear text root password, so you’ll need slappasswd and you also need to create the directory for the database (ldbm, not bdb). Although the ldap runs as root, it doesn’t create the directory.
For the rest, it’s pretty much straightforward, you just have to convert your vcard type export of your Mac Addressbook into ldif and import them into your ldap directory.
Oh: before I forget. phpldapadmin isn’t bad 😉
