February 2008

December 21, 2008 Comments Off on February 2008

February is on a personal level quite dull. Apart from bh’s birthday, which we celebrated in one of the dullest countries in existence (Luxembourg), nothing much exciting.
We were blessed with a couple of interesting sunrises in Brussels, which I took advantage of by waking up early;-)
Brussels' skyline
In Brussels we hear for the first time that English should become a third language for official instances to accomodate for new arrivals: Moet het Engels een officieel statuut krijgen?. The subject comes back in November as an internal proposal for the VLD party for their next elections: Engels als administratieve taal in Brussel. History repeats at a very high rate.
Belgians try to convince everyone to create a Brussels version of Monopoly. We failed…
February was also the month where we had a SMOG alarm that wasn’t SMOG at all. SMOG comes from SMoke and fOG, and the days were quite clear. Merely a linguistic issue it seems… the government means pollution. (As if there isn’t a decent Dutch or French translation…!)
Oh yes, in February my niece appeared in a video clip… which was quite exciting for us 😉
